What we do

The Social Sciences Outreach Team deliver a diverse annual programme of outreach and widening participation activities aimed at schools and colleges on behalf of the:

Leeds University Business School

Faculty of Social Sciences

School of Education, School of Law, POLIS - Politics and International Studies, and School of Sociology and Social Policy

Faculty of Environment

School of Geography, School of Earth and Environment, School of Food Science and Nutrition

Representing a wide range of undergraduate disciplines, the team works alongside current students, academic and admissions colleagues to provide an extensive range of events that are free of charge. Our activities are designed to showcase the importance of social sciences to both pre-16 and post-16 students, whilst inspiring and supporting them in their progression to Higher Education.

Our programme of activity includes ambassador talks, workshops and subject taster sessions, delivered online, on campus and in schools and colleges across the country.

Many of our activities are targeted, so that we reach and support those students who are underrepresented at university in our subject areas, aligning with our Access and Participation Plan commitments to the Office for Students. Information on the impact of our widening participation activities and initiatives can be accessed in our Annual Report.
