Year 7 & 8 Law Discovery Day: Negotiation and Mediation Skills for Future Lawyers

Do your students enjoy arguing in class? Do they always think their opinion is the right one? Could they be interested in pursuing a career in law?

We would like to invite you and your Y7 and Y8 pupils to a Law School Taster Day at the University of Leeds. The day will provide pupils with an insight into some of the opportunities available whilst studying across the breadth of courses within the School of Law.

The day will be focused around the concepts of negotiation and mediation, encouraging pupils to debate in a fun and interactive environment. Pupils will be placed in multiple fictitious roles within the legal system whereby they will need to employ a whole breadth of soft skills to succeed. The taster day will encourage pupils to develop skills such as decision-making, problem-solving and persuasion and influencing skills, whilst also gently introducing them to the opportunities available through a career in the law.
